Where it is

Old Northwood lies just east of Broadway (U.S. 1), with Pleasant City to the south, Northboro Park to the north and Northwood Shores between it and the waterfront on the city’s map. Northwood Hills, with its own page, is farther west, beyond the Florida East Coast Railway tracks.

From the city’s parcel layer:

Home type Count
Single-family houses 314
Small apartment buildings (under 5 units) 16
Apartment buildings of 5 to 9 units 4

Half of the single-family houses were built in 1935 or earlier, according to the parcel records, which date them from 1920 to 2019. About 59% of the home parcels (198) carry a homestead exemption, the Property Appraiser’s mark of a full-time owner’s residence. Changes to the outside of a house in a local historic district go through the city’s historic preservation review; see our permits and zoning guide.

How we drew this area

This page follows the Old Northwood Historic Neighborhood boundary on the City of West Palm Beach’s neighborhood association map, which closely matches the city’s Old Northwood historic district. Home counts come from the city’s parcel layer on Oct. 10, 2026, and ZIP codes from the city’s address layer.
