New in West Palm Beach: Pastis, Lilly's/Jack's Bar, Buddhaberry, Medi Bowls, The Daily Focaccia and more passed state licensing inspections July to October 2026.

Last checked Oct. 10, 2026. Openings come from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation’s District 2 food service inspection file, downloaded Oct. 10, 2026; business tax rules from the City of West Palm Beach Business Tax page. This roundup is rebuilt each month.

Before a restaurant, bar or cafe in Florida can open, or reopen under a new owner, it needs a state food service license, and that starts with a licensing inspection by the Division of Hotels and Restaurants. Those inspections are the earliest public record of a new place. These are the businesses inside West Palm Beach city limits that passed one between July 1 and Oct. 9, 2026.

How we built this list

We took every licensing inspection in the state’s District 2 file from July 1 to Oct. 9, 2026, with a West Palm Beach address, then checked each address against the Census Bureau’s geocoder and kept only those inside the city limits. Places in unincorporated areas with a West Palm Beach mailing address, such as along Military Trail, Okeechobee Boulevard west of the Turnpike and at the airport, are left out, as are vendors registered at shared commissary kitchens. A licensing inspection can mean a brand-new business or a change of owner; the state file does not say which. Names are spelled as the business registered them with the state.

Food inspections are only one record. Shops, offices and service businesses do not get a state food inspection, so they will not appear here; we add them when the city or the business announces an opening.

Opening a business in West Palm Beach

Every business operating in the city needs a city Business Tax Receipt (formerly called an occupational license), according to the city’s Business Tax page:

  • Email the Business Tax or Rental Tax application to businesstax@wpb.org, or bring it to Development Services at City Hall. The city says it cannot take applications online yet. Processing takes five to 10 business days.
  • Bring your Social Security number, FEIN or ITIN, your business name registration from the state’s Division of Corporations, and any required state license.
  • New businesses may need to pass zoning, code and fire inspections before the receipt is issued. Home-based businesses file a Home Occupation Affidavit.
  • Receipts run Oct. 1 to Sept. 30. Renewals are due July 1 through Sept. 30; unpaid taxes become delinquent Oct. 1 with a penalty.

Rates by business type are in Section 82-163 of the city code.

What this means for you
