Last checked Oct. 10, 2026. Facts come from Florida Power & Light, the City of West Palm Beach Public Utilities and contacts pages, and Palm Beach County. Updated when a provider changes its numbers.

Florida Power & Light (FPL) delivers electricity in West Palm Beach, and the city’s own flood and storm pages send downed-line reports to FPL. The city runs water, sewer and stormwater, not the power grid, so electric outages go straight to FPL.

Who to call

  • Power out or a downed line: FPL, 1-800-468-8243 (1-800-4OUTAGE), any time
  • Report or check online: FPL outage report

Report it

If your power goes out, report it to FPL at 1-800-468-8243 or online, according to FPL’s power disturbances FAQ.

Downed power lines: stay well clear and treat every line as live. Report it to FPL, or to the West Palm Beach Police Department at 561-822-1900, the city’s flood information page says. Never walk through standing water near a downed line; the city warns electrocution is the second leading cause of death in floods, after drowning.

The outage map

FPL’s Power Tracker is an interactive map of current outages across FPL’s service area. Enter a street address, city or ZIP code (West Palm Beach includes 33401, 33405, 33407, 33409, 33411, 33412 and 33417) to see outages near you and the estimated time of restoration. It does not show flickers or brief interruptions. During an outage, open it on a phone or a battery-powered laptop.

Flickers

FPL says interruptions of less than a minute are flickers: its system shuts off power for a moment to isolate a problem, such as tree branches, palm fronds or animals, then resets itself. Report repeated flickering to FPL; if it continues, FPL says you may need a licensed electrician.
